DVT

What is Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)?
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a condition characterized by the formation of blood clots within a vein, usually in the legs. These clots can block blood flow and lead to potentially serious complications.
What are the Symptoms / Causes?
Symptoms of DVT may include swelling, pain, redness, and warmth in the leg. However, in some cases, symptoms may be mild or absent. Diagnosis is usually made through imaging tests such as ultrasound or Doppler ultrasound.
DVT can have many causes. Factors such as prolonged immobility, surgery, trauma, hormone therapy, smoking, obesity, pregnancy, and inherited blood clotting disorders can increase the risk of DVT.
Treatment Methods
Treatment for DVT involves preventing blood clots from growing, dissolving existing clots, and reducing the risk of recurring thrombosis. Common treatments include anticoagulants (blood-thinning medications), thrombolytics (medications that dissolve blood clots), and elevating the legs. It's also important to stay active, exercise regularly, and avoid risk factors that increase blood clotting to prevent blood clots.
