Closed Aortic Surgery

What is Closed Aortic Surgery?
Closed aortic surgery is a cardiac surgical procedure performed without opening the chest. This method is used to treat various aortic diseases. Unlike traditional open-heart surgery, it does not require a large incision and involves minimally invasive procedures.
Advantages and Procedures
The biggest advantage of closed aortic surgery is its less invasive nature. This method accesses the aorta through small incisions or catheters, usually in the groin or arm veins. Various procedures, including aortic valve replacement, aortic aneurysm repair, and aortic valve stenosis, can be performed with this method.
Results and Complications
Closed aortic surgery may offer some advantages over traditional open-heart surgery. Some of the advantages include less blood loss, less pain, shorter hospital stays, and faster recovery. However, as with any surgical procedure, closed aortic surgery carries certain risks. Complications such as infection, blood clots, and vascular damage can occur.
